Reepham & Wensum Valley Benefice - at the Heart of the Community

New Priest for Reepham and Wensum Valley

On 2 July we will welcome our new Priest in Charge to the Reepham and Wensum Valley
Benefice. The Rev Nigel Kinsella will be licensed by Bishop Jane and installed in his new parishes
at the evening service at 7.30 pm at St Mary’s Church Reepham.
There will be refreshments afterwards at St Michael’s.
Nigel will be serving in the revised benefice which now includes Alderford and Attlebridge, Great
Witchingham, Reepham, Salle, Swannington, Thurning, Weston Longville and Wood Dalling. He
and wife Sharon will be living at Reepham Rectory on Station Road.
Before deciding to return to Norfolk, Nigel has most recently served as Academy Chaplain at the
Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. This was his final post in his 16 years of Army service, leading
teams in many parts of the world, including Kenya and Afghanistan.
Despite his extensive overseas experience, Nigel will be no stranger to rural parish life in Norfolk.
He began his working life as a police officer in Birmingham and then in Dereham. After being
called to the ministry, he worked in Attleborough, Quidenham and then East Harling. There he led
a benefice of seven parishes, and was also chaplain to the well known children’s hospice.
He is looking forward to working with us. “I am excited by the prospect of serving in a benefice
that values tradition while embracing innovation, and I hope to bring a steady, prayerful, and
imaginative approach to this next chapter of ministry.”
