Caring for God’s Earth – We Have the Power!

As part of our Eco Church Lifestyle Challenge, we are asking everyone to look at their energy use, to see if they can reduce it, save money and reduce their carbon footprint. Could you turn your heating down by 10 or 20; turn appliances off rather than leaving them on standby, which uses a surprising amount of energy; boil only the amount of water you need in the kettle, as kettles are one of the most energy intensive appliances; don’t leave chargers plugged in when not charging, as they consume electricity and reduce the life of the charger. All these little things would save money by reducing the energy you use.
In May 2021 it was reported in the Financial Times that carbon emissions from tech infrastructure and data servers that enable cloud computing, now exceed those of pre-pandemic air travel! Microsoft and Google have now set targets to become carbon neutral and we can all help by regularly deleting things that we don’t want or need. By choosing a green energy provider and reducing domestic energy consumption, we can both help save the planet and our pounds.
