Climate change
Eco Church
Earth Hour is a symbolic, annual worldwide event allowing people to express their concerns about Climate Change. This year it is happening on 23rd March, a Saturday, when millions of people from 190 countries around the world will be switching off their lights from 8.30 – 9.30pm, to show they acknowledge the need for climate action.
This year we will be marking Earth Hour in St Michael’s. Everyone concerned about the state of the planet is welcome to walk to St Michael’s and light one of the candles in front of a map of the world, while considering what positive action each of us could take for one hour during the year. There will be a tree of pledges on which you can hang your positive action if you wish. If the weather is fine, there will be an opportunity for a spot of star gazing in the churchyard, as well as a night trail and a ‘surprise illumination’ of very small things. Bring a torch.
